Cleopatra
Original Costume
Design
time completed:
Beginning of October 2005
hours spent: 6+
worn at: Photoshoot only
Why I
chose to make this costume:
LA Photographer Dan
Santoni and I wanted to collaborate on a photoshoot, and one
of our chosen themes was a tribute to Cleopatra. I threw together
this costume in a couple of days before heading to CA to shoot
with Dan!
How I made
this costume:
The
most time spent on this outfit was hunting for the right jewelry
and accessories such as shoes, the dagger and snake. I also made
the the top, sash belt and sheer skirt, as well as the large beaded
necklace by sewing various trims together.
Hair Stylist Michael
Hall is responsible for the awesome wig and headpiece shown
in the photos below, and Dan came up with the great set. Also
a big Thanks to Kabuki for lending me some great gold jewelry!
My thoughts
on this costume:
As a huge fan of Ancient Egypt, you'd think
this outfit is way too historically incorrect for me. Well, it
IS rather inaccurate, but I still love it in all it's golden glory!
It was a great collaboration and photo turn out, too. If I wear
this costume to an event I will make a headpiece for it, and maybe
make some additions/changes.
