Thoughts
and Thank Yous...
I
first heard of "Cyberotika"
on New Year's Eve through local digital artist Bill
Reichhardt/Tsubasa. I was instantly intrigued by the theme
of the event - an artistic festival of Erotica, Sci-Fi, Fetish,
Cyber... even Anime! National and international artists of all
media were invited to showcase their work at Cyberotika - Photography,
Digital Art, Animation, Movies, Performances and Fashion. Bill
presented me with the incredible opportunity to be one of three
Designers for the Fashion Show, a main event of the night. Though
I had experience with stage shows involving costumes and models,
I have never done a Runway Show before. The challenge was intimidating
but irrisistable.
Thinking back, I don't think I have ever worked so hard for an
event in my life! Just planning the line-up and finding suitable
models took until right before the Show. I spent countless nights
working on fitting/fixing finished costumes as well as making
four new outfits. The months of March and April were stress-filled
blurs. But in the end everything paid off. Bill mixed an amazing
10 minute track together and 9 of us presented 13 selected costumes.
I have to take the time to thank all of my gorgeous models. Some
of them are friends I have worked with in the past - Amanda,
Eden and
Krisalyn. Peerapan
however I met in a restaurant, and I boldly approached her with
a business card and the plea to model for me. She was fantastic
and reliable from the beginning. Paula
is a friend who came all the way from Athens, GA. to be in the
show, and I made the Goddess costume specific for her. I used
to work part-time with Mandy
and she agreed to model for the show as soon as I told her months
ago. I met Kim
and Ashley
at Megacon in Florida and they were so cute and nice that I wishfully
said how they'd be great for the Fashion Show... amazingly they
agreed and made the 8-hour trip to Atlanta to be there!! A lot
of dedication and enthusiasm from all of these beautiful ladies
made the show possible, and I am so grateful for their patience
and wonderful performances.
I also must thank my INCREDIBLE helpers - Meg,
Brian
and Jesse (who cancled two bike shows to drive from Florida to
Atlanta!). Their organizational skills, constant support and help
with changing the models lightning fast saved the show.
Of course a big Thank You goes out to Bill and all the organizers
who gave us the chance to be in Cyberotika; Melissa
Coffey for her guidance and inspiration; and the performers
and photographers present at the Show.
Last but not least - thanks to everyone who came out to Cyberotika,
I truly hope you had a good time!
